Watkins: Hopefully I'll be back for training camp

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins had a small broken bone in his foot and consequentially had surgery in April to have a screw inserted.

"For training camp, I think I'll definitely be available," Watkins told TSN on June 17 in Toronto.

However, it seems that the team and Watkins will now take a more cautious approach with his rehab.

"You never know. Be very skeptical about it. Hopefully, I'll be back (for training camp)," Watkins said, according to ESPN. "If not, then cool. Get ready for the first game. "You never know. Right now I feel good, but I got to go back and train and rehab. Hopefully, it feels good when I run and everything like that. I haven't ran in three or four weeks. Hopefully, I'll feel good about it, and I'll be on the field in training camp."

Watkins had 44 receptions for 827 yards and nine touchdowns last season. For his career, he has 125 catches for 2,029 yards and fifteen scores.
