WATCH: Steve Smith defends Swinney on fraud comments

by - Assoc. Editor -

Earlier in the college football playoffs, Fox Sports One Colin Cowherd called the Clemson Football team a fraud.

After Clemson had won the nation title on Monday night, Dabo Swinney took some time in the postgame press conference to retaliate and call out Cowherd, saying he is the real fraud.

Cowherd was congratulatory to Swinney on his radio show on Tuesday.

“All I can say to Dabo Swinney is, you’re a hell of a coach, you made college football better," Cowherd said. "You gave me gave me four-and-a-half hours – the game was a tad long – but four-and-a-half hours of great entertainment. And your players showed such great character in the most crucial moments. I couldn’t be happier for Clemson.”

Future NFL Hall-of-Famer Steve Smith went to Swinney's aid during Cowherd's radio show and told Cowherd that he should never call out student-athletes as 'frauds.'
