“I sat down with my family, sat down with the support staff at Clemson. I enjoyed being at Clemson, but it’s time. I’m ready for the next level," Lawson told FOX 26 out of Houston. "I will always miss Clemson, thank them for everything they’ve done for me. I really enjoyed it." Lawson had 79 tackles and leads the nation in tackles for loss with 22 and has 9.5 quarterback sacks. He had six tackles, including two tackles for loss and a caused fumble in Clemson’s 45-37 win over North Carolina for the ACC Championship. Lawson is a finalist this season for the Nagurski Award, Lombardi Award and Ted Hendricks Award. The deadline to declare early for this year’s draft is Jan. 18.
