by - Assoc. Editor -

Virginia Tech announced their designations on Monday for their 2017 Football season and the Sept. 30 home game against Clemson will be a 'Maroon effect' game.

Shirts will be sold starting during the Spring Game on April 22 to get that 'Maroon effect' for the game against Clemson.

Clemson defeated Virginia Tech 42-35 to win the Dr. Pepper ACC Championship this past season on their epic journey to win the 2016 National Championship. During the ACC title game, Deshaun Watson passed for 288 yards with three touchdowns and only one interception. He also had 17 rushes for 85 yards and two scores.
