by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson standout and Atlanta Falcons linebacker Vic Beasley was named on Thursday the NFL defensive player of the week.

Beasley had three sacks, two tackles for loss, and a forced fumble return for a touchdown in the Falcons' 42-14 blowout win over the Rams on Sunday.

In 2016, he has 34 tackles, 13.5 sacks, and league-leading six forced fumbles. He is also currently tied for first in the NFL in sacks with Von Miller.

Beasley is the first NFL player since Von Miller and J.J. Watt to have multiple three-sack games in his first or second season.
