Ulric Jones apologizes to Watson, Clemson fanbase |
Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was interviewed last week by USA Today and his comments while at Gainesville high school to his head coach outraged South Carolina JUCO commit Ulric Jones.
“My high school coach was a big Clemson fan and I told him, as long as I’m the starting quarterback here, I’m not going to lose to South Carolina," Watson told the USA Today's Dan Wolken. "It’s a big rivalry. Who wouldn’t want to play in that game? It was a family decision. They put it on me, and it’s what I wanted to do. Of course people say I have a future down the road (to protect), but I live in the moment and that moment was then and I wanted to play.” Ulric Jones is a 3-star defensive end out of Butler Community College who signed with South Carolina last December and he took offense to the above statement by Watson by posting on facebook, Twitter and even went on a local talk sports radio to talk a few shots at Watson, Lawson, Clemson fans, etc. Just wanna apologize to the Clemson fan base at whom I attack with words and tweets. I love this rivalry. And hope y'all accept my apology. And I wanna apologize to Watson and Lawson. Hope both y'all have a great season and much respect @Shaq_Lawson90 Ulric Jones.....we really like this guy ???????? pic.twitter.com/D0Gt8z9dBk
