Zack ErwinZack Erwin Koerner, the first Tiger drafted by the Yankees since 2009 (Graham Stoneburner), totaled 63 strikeouts against only 22 walks in 62.0 innings pitched over 16 appearances (12 starts) in 2015. Koerner pitched a four-hit shutout in Clemson’s 7-0 win at No. 8 South Carolina on March 2. Schmidt, the first Tiger drafted by the Red Sox since 1995 (Jeff Sauve), made 18 appearances (six starts) and pitched 52.0 innings, fourth most on the 2015 team. Clemson had a 5-1 record in his six starts. White, the first Tiger drafted by the Pirates since 2008 (Ryan Hinson), was a Brooks Wallace Shortstop-of-the-Year Award Watch List member and a Third-Team All-ACC selection in 2015. He hit .297 with 44 runs, seven doubles, three triples, four homers, 29 RBIs, a .380 on-base percentage and 11 steals in 61 starts at shortstop. Tiger signee Jake Higginbotham, a lefthander from Cumming, Ga. who attended Buford High School, was drafted in the 27th round (No. 809 overall pick) by the New York Mets. Clemson signee Jackson Kowar, a righthander from Weddington, N.C. who attended Charlotte Christian School, was selected in the 40th round (No. 1210 overall pick) by the Detroit Tigers. They joined Cornelius Randolph, a first-round pick by the Phillies, and Jalen Miller, a third-round selection by the Giants, as the four Tiger signees drafted in 2015.
