TBT: C.J. Spiller signs with Clemson

by - Assoc. Editor -

Dabo Swinney said on Wednesday afternoon that former Clemson standout C.J. Spiller changed everything for Clemson Football.

"Hey Man, 9 years ago today, you changed Clemson," Swinney told Spiller in a phone conversation early Wednesday morning on National Signing Day.

"I wouldn't be here today (Clemson head coach) if it wasn't for C.J. Spiller."

Spiller would win the ACC Player of the Year in 2009, Clemson's first ACC Player of the Year since 1987 (Michael Dean Perry) and finished sixth in Heisman Trophy voting. He set 31 Clemson records in various categories, including the record for all-purpose running, returns for touchdowns and many others.
