Swinney updates injury status of Simpson

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson freshman offensive guard John Simpson had a leg injury in the fourth quarter against the Gamecocks.

The Trainers put an air cast on Simpson's leg, and he was carted off the field. He waved to the crowd as they took him off the field.

Both team doctors, Dabo Swinney, and Will Muschamp were on the field to check on Simpson.

Swinney said during his postgame press conference that he was worried that it was a fracture but it was not. It scared Simpson more than anything but there is no fracture and the knee is fine.

The injury is more down in the lower part of his leg near his ankle.
