Swinney updates injury status of Gallman and others |
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney held his weekly media teleconference and had the following update on some of his injured players on the football team.
Wayne Gallman was injured during an impressive 18-yard run after a vicious hit to the head by defensive back Dravious Wright in the first quarter of the North Carolina State game. "Wayne was actually really good yesterday, good this morning," Swinney said about Gallman's injury. "We will hold him out of practice this week as he goes through the (concussion) protocol. He really, really looked very good yesterday and today." Gallman has 90 rushes for 489 yards and five touchdowns this season. Clemson will get some depth back with the return of Tremayne Anchrum on the offensive line. "We will get Tremayne Anchrum back in practice today as well," Swinney said. Swinney also shared that Van Smith has a "little soreness in his butt area" injury from the North Carolina State game. Defensive back Adrian Baker will be full go at practice and will be competing for playing time. "I don't know. We will see," Swinney said about Baker. "Now he is at the point where I think he is ready to go. So now he has to go and get back in the competition and get back to work and see if he can earn some time. That's really where he is at now." Swinney said that Hunter Renfrow's injury during the North Carolina State game is not severe. "Yeah he's good," Swinney said. "He will back at practice today."
