Swinney updates injury status of Bryant and Baker |
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney held his weekly media press conference on Tuesday morning and shared the updated injury status of two important Clemson defenders.
Swinney is still not sure about the availability for sophomore defensive end Austin Bryant for the Louisville game. "Today will be another day that we put him through some more drills," Swinney said. "We put him through some things last night but today will be more of a tell-tell of him when we put the pads on and see how he responds." Bryant had 35 tackles, two tackles for loss, four quarterback pressures, a fumble recovery, and 1.5 sacks in 13 games last season. In last season's Capital One Orange Bowl, Bryant came off the bench for the injured Shaq Lawson and had eight tackles including half a sack on 63 snaps. Swinney said that cornerback Adrian Baker is close to being back on the field for the Tigers. "He is getting real close," Swinney said about Baker. "Today we will be in one-on-ones and put him in some of the team pass stuff. He is at that point now where we really need to cut him loss full-go in practice and kinda see how he responds. He's getting real close. He will be back unless there is a setback or something." Baker played in 12 games and had 13 tackles and two interceptions last season (FSU and SC). His crucial interception late in the first quarter in the red zone against Florida State turned the momentum of the contest towards the Tigers.
