recently had a positive report from the doctors on his injured neck.

"It was really good. I think everything is really, really positive with Mike Williams," Swinney said. "He is doing great. I think they are talking about in another few weeks maybe putting him in a soft cast instead of the hard one he has got. He is doing very well. I'm just tickled to death that he is going to be just fine. As I have said I don't have any expectation for him to play this year. It would be great, but that is the least of my concern. I have no expectation for that whatsoever. The thing I am happy about is he is going to play next year for sure. He is going to be just fine and his football career is very, very bright. "

Williams will be eligible for the NFL draft, but Swinney said that he has not heard from Williams that he would leave Clemson early.

"I don't know if he will be back here. I hope he is back here next year," Swinney said. "He has not said anything that he wouldn't be. If he decides to move on and play on the next level, then that is certainly an option he could have. The good thing is he is going to be able to play some football. Whether he is at Clemson or somewhere else, his career is very, very bright and far from over."
