Swinney discusses Mike Williams returning this season

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney answered questions from the local media during his Tuesday press conference and had the following comments on Mike Williams' possible return this season.

"I'm not the judge and the jury here," Swinney said. "I don't have anything to do with that. You need to talk to God about that. They just give me a report on who can play, and that is who we get ready to play. I don't get involved in all that. If they ever tell me he can play, hey it would be great. I don't make those decisions."

Swinney reiterated that he follows the medical staff's evaluation on injured players to find out who is available on a week to week basis.

"You have to ask the doctors. I really don't know. As I've said about five times, my personal opinions is I don't think he will be back," Swinney said. "That's just an opinion. I don't know. I've also said in Mike's mind; he's playing in the national championship game, and that's ok. That's the mentality of a competitor. I don't have a clue. I know he's doing great. They're getting ready to take him out of his soft thing (brace), and they have cut him loose to start running and doing things like that. Someone would have to sign off in blood that he's okay before I'd put him back out there. I wouldn't tell him no. Somebody would have to come to me and say this kid is 100-percent fine to play. You want to make sure. He's got so much football left in front of him. We can win without Mike Williams. We don't have to have Mike Williams here to win. We are 10-0 without him. It's not like if we don't get Mike Williams back, we can't go win a championship. We got some pretty good players."
