Swinney confirms ACL injury for Clemson WR and other injuries

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney talked to the media on his Sunday teleconference and said that senior wide receiver Adrien Dunn suffered a season-ending ACL and meniscus injury during Clemson's 59-0 win against South Carolina State.

"Adrien Dunn did tear his ACL and a little of his meniscus so really disappointing for him," Swinney said. "What a great return he had, 30-yard return. A guy that has been in our program now for four years. I watched him grow up here. He is a local kid [Daniel high]. Just as competitive and a committed guy as you could ever ask for. So really hate to lose him. He's been a steady guy for us all four years."

Dunn was helped off the field and was seen on the sidelines with crutches after the play.

He has five receptions for 37 yards in his collegiate career.

Other injury news was that Clemson redshirt freshman defensive back Denzel Johnson tweaked his hamstring, and Swinney was unsure if he would be ready to go against Georgia Tech.

"Denzel Johnson just tweaked his hamstring, so he is kind of day-to-day. Not sure right now if he will be ready to go in a short week or not."

Swinney said that senior linebacker Ben Boulware will be "ready to roll" on his previous right ankle injury and confirmed that sophomore defensive end Austin Bryant would be out against Georgia Tech.
