Swinney on Watson: "He's the franchise, he's the unicorn" |
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney
spoke with Sports Illustrated recently and was asked what he thought of the speculation that his signal-caller
Deshaun Watson could be the first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
"He's the franchise. He's the unicorn," Swinney said. "The guy has no flaws. He's so talented, but he's a better person than he is a football player. He's so intelligent. He's brilliant. He just gets it and he wants it. He's hungry and humble for it." Watson finished third in the Heisman Trophy balloting last season and will be one of the favorites in 2016. Watson completed 333-of-491 passes for 4,104 yards and 35 touchdowns and also had 207 rushes for 1,105 yards and 12 scores this past season. He became the first player in NCAA FBS history to throw for 4,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in the same season.
