Swinney on Feaster: "He's ready"

CLEMSON -- Clemson has had a plethora of talented running backs in school history with the latest Wayne "Train" Gallman declaring early for the 2017 NFL Draft. Clemson still has a stable of talented backs on their current roster including speedster Tavien Feaster. Swinney said during Wednesday's press conference that Feaster is ready to take that next level on the football field.

"I expect him to make a huge step forward," Swinney said about Feaster. "I think he will be a big-time factor for us. He was a guy last year that I think had Wayne [Gallman] not been there then there would be a different type of a need, but with having a guy like Wayne Gallman who was kind of the heart and soul of that position, it allowed us to really bring him along at a good healthy pace. He's ready."

Swinney said that he is proud of the progression in all areas by Feaster.

"I'm really proud of him," Swinney said. "He has shown great maturity and so has Tony [Elliott]. It is just fun to watch guys mature and kind of figure it out a little bit. I really proud of him in all areas. He has just been a model player and citizen since he got here - academically, just how he has worked in the weight room, learning what to do, his coachability, everything, being a great teammate. He's really, really done a nice job. He's a special talent. We saw some glimpses of it last year when he had some opportunities. It's going to be fun. I think those three guys - He, [Adam] Choice and [C.J.] Fuller. That's going to be a really, really good group to watch compete and develop. I think we got bright, bright futures at that position for all those guys."

In 2016 in very limited action, Feaster had 37 rushes for 221 yards and two touchdowns.
