Streeter on 2018 recruiting class

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter spoke to the media to summarize Clemson's National Signing Day on Wednesday. Streeter was asked about the size of the 2018 recruiting class after Clemson only signed 14 scholarship players this year.

"It could vary but it will be a small class," Streeter said. "There is a lot of things that go into it too. It depends on how many guys leave early. We have a feel. It could be anywhere as low as 10 or 11 to 15 or 16. It's still going to be a smaller class. We do know that, but like I said there are a lot of variables that could take place to really determine that number."

Streeter said that winning the National Championship has helped with some of the prospects including the younger ones.

"We identified a lot of 2018 before we won the national championship," Streeter said. "It's more that some 18's or 19's or 20's that are contacting us that we might not be actively recruiting that area. Guys that are just wanting to be a part of it. They see it. They see it on TV. They can sense it and feel it. The National Championship is obviously a springboard to help us with that momentum."

Clemson already has 2018 commitments from 5-star quarterback Trevor Lawrence, athlete Derion Kendrick, defensive tackle Josh Belk, linebacker Mike Jones Jr., and linebacker Jake Venables.
