Sixty-Two ACC Players selected in MLB Draft

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sixty-two student-athletes from ACC schools were selected during the 2015 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, which concluded on Wednesday.

The total stands as the fourth most in league history and marks the ninth time in the last 10 years that at least 50 league players have been selected. All 14 ACC programs had at least one player drafted.

Also extended was a streak of 24 straight years with at least one first round pick from the league.

Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, and Virginia led all ACC schools with seven picks apiece. Duke, Miami, and NC State had five players taken, while Boston College, Louisville, and Virginia Tech had four selected.

Of the 30 MLB teams, 25 drafted at least one player from the ACC led by the Pittsburgh Pirates with five league selections.
