Saban would vote for Deshaun Watson for Heisman

The College Football head coaches Dabo Swinney, Nick Saban, Urban Myer, and Chris Peterson were in Atlanta for the ESPN College Football Awards Show on Thursday night.

Nick Saban won a national championship last season despite the heroic effort of Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson had 478 yards of total offense against Alabama's tough defense in 2016.

Saban shared if he had a vote for this year's Heisman Award Trophy winner, he would give it to Mr. Watson.

"I don't have any input, either, but after playing him last year, I'm voting for him, but I don't have a vote," Saban said. "I think he's a fantastic competitor and a great player and played a fantastic game against us. I don't get to see him all that much during the season, but I have a tremendous amount of respect for the guy. He did a fabulous job."

For the season, Watson has completed 329 of 487 passes for 3914 yards and 37 touchdowns. He ranks fourth in the nation in completions, fifth in touchdown passes and eighth in completion percentage and eighth in total offense. His 37 touchdown passes are a Clemson season record.

Watson finished third in the Heisman voting last season as he threw for 3,512 yards with 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
