Ryan on Shaq Lawson's rehab: "works his tail off"

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson standout and Buffalo Bills rookie Shaq Lawson is currently rehabbing a shoulder injury that he aggravated during minicamp.

The injury setback has not stopped Lawson's work ethic and hunger to get back in action as soon as possible. However, Lawson is expected to begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list (nothing official yet) and will more than likely miss the first six games of the season.

Bills head coach Rex Ryan acknowledges that Lawson has been working strenuously to get back to 100 percent healthy.

"I know he’s been training—I think behind closed doors, this guy works his tail off in there, ” said Ryan to reporters on Wednesday. "So I think they’ll probably just progress him with more running and stuff, but he’s been working hard."

Lawson finished his final season at Clemson with 86 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss (first in the nation), 12.5 sacks and 15 quarterback hurries. For his collegiate career, he had 167 tackles, 46.5 tackles for loss, 20 sacks, 29 quarterback pressures and two fumble recoveries.

He was named a consensus first-team All-American, a finalist for the Hendricks Award, the Bednarik Award, the Lombardi Award and the fourth player since 2011 to go from Daniel High School to Clemson to the NFL.
