Ricky Sapp ready for his chance with Jets |
From the Times and Democrat:
"It went good," he said. "It felt great to be back and be a part of something. To be out there running around was definitely exciting, and I thought I had a good day." Sapp worked out for the Jets on Oct. 25, and said he felt like he would hear from the team again. "I prepared well," he said. "I knew I would kill the workout. I knew this was going to be my time to get called. "They liked me before the draft. I visited them before the draft, and as soon as I left Philly I visited them once, and then seven weeks later they called me back for the workout." Sapp joins a Jets team (4-3) that has been to the past two AFC Championships, coming up a game short of reaching the Super Bowl, and is currently trailing New England (5-2) in the AFC East. "It is very exciting to come to a team that has a great organization and coaching staff," he said. "It is a great blessing to be able to play for a team that you know goes deep in the playoffs every year. I'm going to do what I can do and help out as much as I can in practice." Sapp said he is also excited about the opportunity to play for fiery Jets head coach Rex Ryan. "Oh yeah, I'm ready for him," Sapp said. "Obviously, he is an exciting coach. I like his confidence. I like the way he goes about doing things."
Monday night, however, Sapp said he was feeling good after his first practice with New York.
