Report: Three Tigers workout for the Panthers

by - Assoc. Editor -

The coming weeks are a hectic travel time for meetings and drills for many draft prospects as they seek to boost their stock to NFL teams before the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft on April 28-30 in Chicago, Illinois.

Three former Clemson defenders Shaq Lawson, Mackensie Alexander and B.J. Goodson worked out for the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday according to multiple reports.

The Panthers possess the 30th pick in the first round so the organization would seemingly have to trade up to obtain Lawson's services. Lawson has interviews planned soon with the Cowboys, 49ers, and the Saints.

Lawson concluded this past season with 86 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss (first in the nation), 12.5 sacks and 15 quarterback hurries.

The Tigers with Mackensie Alexander were the number two defense in the country in passes completed holding opponents to only 47.6 completion percentage. In 638 snaps last season, QBs completed only 11 passes vs. Alexander with zero touchdowns while he racked up 23 tackles and two tackles for loss.

At Clemson's Pro Day, Alexander had an impressive vertical jump of 37.5 inches, ran an unofficial 4.50 40-yard dash, produced a ten-foot broad jump, and a 3-cone time of 7.17.

Goodson was a first-team All-ACC selection and led the Tigers in tackles with 160. He elevated his NFL stock considerably at the NFL combine making the Top 10 in almost every linebacker statistical category. His combine results were a 4.69 40-yard time, 30 reps of 225 at the bench press, 34.5-inch vertical jump, broad jump of 9'10, 3-Cone time of 7.05 and a short shuttle time of 4.51.
