Report: Packers "very high" on Stephone Anthony

by - Assoc. Editor -

The NFL Scouting Combine finished up on Monday and several teams appear to be very intrigued by Clemson linebacker Stephone Anthony and his athleticism.

Anthony ran an impressive 4.56 forty-yard dash at 243 pounds (best time by a true inside LB), had 23 bench press reps at 225 pounds, shown a 37 inch vertical jump with a 122-inch broad jump and was impressive with on-field drills during the weekend.

He previously had a stellar week at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL where he first got many NFL scout's attention.

The Green Bay Packers have a certain need for an inside linebacker and will probably draft one or two in the upcoming NFL draft.

NFL insider Tony Pauline posted his findings on Anthony and his connection with the Packers.

, who would fill a need at inside linebacker," Pauline wrote. "Anthony had 16 official visits at the combine and the first team he met with was Green Bay. I was informed Anthony is a favorite of defensive coordinator Dom Capers."

There were several reports that Anthony wowed NFL general managers during the interview portion of the NFL Combine.

NFL Network's Charles Davis tweeted the following on Sunday about Anthony - "Clemson LB Stephone Anthony, one of my favorite players in the draft. Terrific Sr. Bowl week, good reviews from ACC analysts-More tape, pls!"

Anthony has 206 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in his final two years at Clemson.
