Report: Cardinals might trade up for Deshaun Watson |
Former Clemson star quarterback Deshaun Watson is just months away from being an NFL quarterback, and many teams are evaluating him for potential landing spots on their roster.
CBSSports.com is reporting that the Arizona Cardinals could try to trade up to secure Watson in the upcoming NFL Draft. "If Carson Palmer retires, Romo could be an option in Arizona, and sources said the Cardinals are very high on Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson and could be prepared to trade up to land him this spring," CBSSports.com said. "If the Cardinals determine Watson is out of their reach, Tyrod Taylor is very appealing to Arizona and would be a great fit in Bruce Arians' scheme." Dabo Swinney and current Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians are good friends and Swinney has already publicly compared Watson to iconic Michael Jordan. The Cardinals have the #13 overall pick in the draft, and some of their positional needs are at quarterback, cornerback, and inside linebacker. In 2016, Watson completed 388 passes out of 579 attempts for 4593 yards and 41 passing touchdowns with 17 interceptions for an adjusted QBR of 84.9.
