Report: C.J. Spiller visited the Packers |
Former Clemson standout
C.J. Spiller took a visit to the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday according to ESPN's Adam Caplan.
Spiller was released by the New Orleans Saints last Tuesday after just 18 months and 13 appearances in games. He would be a nice addition for the Packers with only three running backs Eddie Lacey, James Starks, and Aaron Ripkowski on their current roster. He finished his injury-plagued 2015 NFL season with 36 carries for 112 yards and 34 catches (on 44 targets) for 239 yards and two receiving touchdowns. For his NFL career with the Bills and Saints, Spiller had 704 rushes for 3,433 yards with 12 rushing touchdowns and 4,867 yards from scrimmage and 20 total scores. The Saints signed him to a four-year, $16 million deal last offseason as a free agent. Since his salary has already been paid for 2016, his next salary this season will more than likely be around the league minimum. #Packers are having veteran RB C.J. Spiller in for a visit today, source said.
