Report: Browns are enamored with Deshaun Watson |
Deshaun Watson showed off his tremendous football and leadership abilities in the comeback 35-31 victory to win the 2016 National Championship for Clemson. Watson finished the game going 36-for-56 for 420 yards and three passing touchdowns. He also had 21 rushes for 43 yards and a rushing score.
This remarkable performance during the playoff has different NFL teams thinking about drafting Watson as the face of their team. Yes..Clemson fans -- the Cleveland Browns are now thinking about drafting Watson according to NFL insider Matt Miller. "That's the feeling many around the NFL have this week. I've spoken to multiple scouts, one general manager and even a prominent trainer who have all been told the Browns are enamored with Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson—but not at No. 1 overall," Miller said. The Browns have two selections in the first round to possibly draft a much-needed franchise quarterback. Quarterbacks currently on the Browns' roster include Robert Griffin III, Cody Kessler, Josh McCown, Kevin Hogan, and Pat Devlin. "The Browns have two picks in the first round—the first one and then Philadelphia's pick at No. 12 as part of last year's Carson Wentz trade. It's with their second pick in Round 1 that my sources believe the Browns would like to see Watson available."
