by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson football signee Tanner Muse was cleared to play baseball for the Gastonia Grizzlies on Saturday afternoon.

The dual-sport standout had received word that Clemson and the Coastal Plain League wouldn’t allow him to play due to NCAA rules that limit prospective student-athletes who haven’t yet enrolled at their respective colleges.

However, his high school coach fought the ruling and won based that the sports club, him and the student athlete are within a 100 miles radius of the future institution.

“It’s really exciting playing in front of the home crowd,” Muse said to the Gaston-Gazette. “Just competing at this level is going to be fun.”

Muse plans to be report to Clemson on June 21.
