Monte Lee, players preview fall baseball

CLEMSON - Head coach Monte Lee and selected players met with the media Friday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium to preview the start of fall baseball.

Here are a few notes, and we'll have more later.

*Lee said Seth Beer has been working at first base since the start of school, and the plan is to have him play there this season.

*Pitcher Pat Krall is being groomed as a starter.

*Pitcher Charlie Barnes was about two weeks behind everybody else in the throwing program, but the coaches expect him to be fully healed and on schedule by the start of spring camp.

*INF Grayson Byrd injured his back over the summer and hasn't been able to participate in drills since the start of school. Lee said the coaches are bringing Byrd along slowly.

*Lee said the plan is for Chase Pinder to stay in center field and not move back to second base.
