Mackensie Alexander ranked in ESPN's Top 100 Players |
ESPN ranked the
Top 100 football players for 2015 and Clemson defensive back Mackensie Alexander was ranked #81 overall with a score of 6.70.
"It was Clemson's ferocious defensive front that got most of the attention last season, but the Tigers' secondary was just as dominant, finishing in the top five in passing D, yards per attempt, completion percentage and passer efficiency," ESPN said. "Alexander was a key component of that secondary. A former five-star recruit felled by injuries as a true freshman, Alexander stepped into the starting role in 2014 and recorded six pass break-ups while blossoming into one of the top shutdown corners in the league." Alexander finished the 2014 season with 22 tackles, two tackles for loss and six pass breakups over 13 games. It was the most snaps in school history by a freshman (766).
