Lawson: "If we had a game tomorrow, I wouldn't be able to play" |
Clemson star defensive end Shaq Lawson talked to the media for Clemson's Media Day previewing the National Championship game, and he had a few comments on his sprained MCL on his left knee.
"My goal is to play. I want to play so bad," Lawson said. "I am feeling sore, hurt right now. If I said we had a game tomorrow, I wouldn't be able to play. I'm just working to get better every day and hopefully by the time I wake up Wednesday or Thursday; I will feel a whole lot better." Lawson said he was sore after practice on Monday but was able to finish practice. "It was sore. Everything they told me that they wanted me to do, I was able to do it. It's just getting used to wearing the brace and everything like that." Lawson was asked when does it hurt when moving with regards to the sprained MCL. "It hurts the most when I move side to side. Mainly side to side cause that is where your MCL is at on the side of your knee. Pretty much when I move side to side." The standout defensive end Shaq Lawson was injured on the second play of the game in Clemson's 37-17 win over Oklahoma in the 2015 Orange Bowl on Saturday. Lawson spent most of the first half with an ice pack on his knee and cheering on his teammates from the bench. He was checked out by the medical staff at halftime and didn't return to the game. An early sack in the bowl game gave Lawson 10.5 sacks for the season, tied for the sixth-best single-season total in Clemson history.
