|Press Release - Monday, March 10, 2014 4:00 PM||
The first-, second- and third-team selections were made by a vote of the league’s 15 head coaches. Balloting took place during the final week of the ACC regular season and was based on regular-season performance.
Parker and Warren were joined on the first team by North Carolina’s Marcus Paige, Syracuse’s C.J. Fair and Virginia’s Malcolm Brogdon.
A freshman hailing from Chicago, Ill., Parker was the lone unanimous selection on the team after coming in at second in the league in scoring (19.2) and first in rebounding (9.0). Parker also holds ACC marks of first in defensive rebounds (6.03), third in field goal percentage (.487) and third in offensive rebounds (3.0).
Warren, a 6-foot-8 forward from Durham, N.C., enters the ACC Tournament as the league’s top scorer (24.8), the second-highest mark in the conference since 2006 and the third highest since 1993. Warren scored in double figures in 29 of 30 games this year and owns the league’s high-water mark with 42 points. In total, Warren had nine 30-plus point games and closed out the regular season with back-to-back 40-point games.
The leading scorer for the Tar Heels this year, Paige followed up his 2013 ACC All-Freshman season with a solid 2014 that saw him average 17.1 points, 4.45 assists and 1.58 steals. In all, Paige ranked in the Top 10 in eight individual categories in the league, including scoring (sixth), assists (fourth), steals (fifth), free throw percentage (second) and 3-pointers made (third).
Fair, who led the Orange in scoring for the second consecutive season, heads into the ACC Tournament with a scoring average of 16.9 points. A senior from Baltimore, Md., Fair ranked ninth in the league in field goal percentage (.441) and 16th in rebounding (6.2).
Brogdon, who returned to the court after missing the 2013 season due to a foot injury, led the Cavaliers to a league-record tying 16 ACC wins and their first outright regular-season title since 1981. A sophomore from Norcross, Ga., Brogdon was UVa’s leading scorer with 12.6 points per game. Brogdon was the league’s only player to score in double figures in each conference game this season.
Syracuse’s Tyler Ennis (12.4 ppg, ACC-leading 5.55 assists), Pitt’s Lamar Patterson (fourth in the ACC at 17.6 ppg), Duke’s Rodney Hood (eighth in the ACC with 16.5 ppg, second in 3-pt percentage), Clemson’s K.J. McDanielsK.J. McDaniels
