From Morris Daily Herald:

Cumbie was hoping he would be one of the final additions to the 53-man roster. Cumbie didn't make that cut, yet was able to hook on to Oakland's eight-man practice squad that was announced on Sunday.

As a practice squad player, Cumbie will work with the Raiders during the week, yet won't dress for games. Throughout the season, he can be added to the 53-man roster by the Raiders or signed by another team.

"It's a great opportunity, especially with my story and how things have happened in the past. I'm truly blessed to be there, I understand the opportunity," Cumbie said. "I know now I've got a great defensive line coach (Mike Waulfle). I'm just going to take this year one week at a time. I know that at any moment I can be called up and be activated."
