Humphries named #3 wide receiver for Bucs

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson wide receiver Adam Humphries has been named as the #3 wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at training camp practice on Monday.

Humphries will be the slot starter in three-receiver sets with fellow teammates Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson.

“Let’s just end the big mystery about this No. 3 wide receiver, okay?” Koetter said to reporters on Monday. “Adam Humphries is going to be our No. 3 wide receiver. You talk about the definition of a consistent player, there’s Adam Humphries’ picture right there. Consistently strong player, so Adam’s going to be our slot receiver. The battle for four, five, six and beyond, there’s some really good competition and it could be any of the guys in that mix.”

Humphries is also in the running for the vacant punt return position for the Bucs.

He had 27 catches for 260 yards (9.6 ypc) and a touchdown in his rookie season (13 games) last year.

The undrafted rookie and Clemson fan favorite earned a free agent contract after dazzling the Bucs' coaching staff in a two-day tryout back in May 2015. He was also impressive during the preseason as he led the team with nine catches for 139 yards and a touchdown.

The former Dorman high school product had 127 receptions for 1,097 yards and three touchdowns while at Clemson.
