Herbstreit says Clemson has best chance to beat Alabama

by - Assoc. Editor -

ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit was on the Mike & Mike show on Monday and was asked which team he thought had the best chance to upset perennial power Alabama.

"You have to say, Clemson,” Herbstreit said. "Clemson’s been that team all year and preseason I picked Clemson to beat Alabama in the national championship. It had everything to do with their quarterback [Deshaun Watson], the playmakers he has around them, and the defense that has played for the most part pretty well this year. With that being said, Ohio State has a chance athletically to match up with Clemson and give them a very good game. If Clemson is hitting on all cylinders and playing the way they’re capable of playing, I think they’re capable of playing with Alabama.

The Clemson football team is preparing to play #3 seed Ohio State in the Playstation Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 31. If the Tigers can get by the Buckeyes, they will have the opportunity to play Alabama or Washington for the National Championship.
