Gamecocks leading scorer won't play vs. Clemson

by - Assoc. Editor -

South Carolina senior guard Sindarius Thornell will not play in the rivalry game against Clemson in the Colonial Life Area on Wednesday night at 9 pm ET on ESPNU according to multiple reports.

Thornwell has not played in a game since Dec. 1 against Vermont and is averaging 18.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists this season. South Carolina suspended him indefinitely on Dec. 4 for a violation of the athletic department policy. He can still practice with the team and travel to away games.

The specifics for his suspension is not known, but Thornwell was arrested on Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce, S.C for possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license back in May.

South Carolina opened as a four-point favorite over the Tigers but now they are only a two-point home favorite.
