Former Clemson linebacker Tony Steward made the New Orleans Saints practice squad with fullback Austin Johnson, wide receiver Jake Lampman, tight end Garrett Griffin, guard John Fullington, center Jack Allen, defensive end Bobby Richardson, and cornerback Brian Dixon.

The Buffalo Bills released Steward in August after he battled back from a knee injury during Week 12 against Kansas City last season. In 2015, Steward had two tackles in seven games (94 total snaps) with the Bills before his season ended on the injured reserve with a back injury.

He was drafted in the 6th round (#188 overall) by the Buffalo Bills in the 2015 NFL Draft as it was the first of two sixth-round picks by the Bills.

During his career at Clemson, he had 141 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and 14 quarterback pressures while battling back from two ACL injuries.

The two-time Clemson captain helped the 2014 Tigers lead the nation in total defense, pass efficiency defense, fewest first downs allowed, tackles for loss, tackles for loss yardage, sack yardage, third down defense, fewest yards for pass attempt, fewest yards for play allowed and fewest plays 10+ yards allowed.
