Former Clemson DT has a torn ACL

by - Assoc. Editor -

The Cincinnati Bengals placed Brandon Thompson on the injured reserve last week because of a knee injury and promoted defensive tackle DeShawn Williams from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster.

Thompson's injury is now being called a torn right ACL, which he suffered during Baltimore in the final regular season game.

Thompson appeared in nine games (184 snaps) this season and had eight tackles, three tackles for a loss and a half of a sack. With Thompson in the lineup, the Bengals run defense only gave up 3.13 yards per play while giving up 4.63 yards per carry without him.

He will be a free agent after the season after signing as a third-round draft pick back in 2012.
