Elliott on Gallman's comments after bulldozing defender |
Clemson co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott spoke with the local media about various topics on Monday including discussing Gallman's memorable 23-yard touchdown run in the second quarter against App State where he ran over a defender near the goal line.
"The funny thing is I'm not a guy that likes taunting," Elliott said. "So I'm getting on Terry Allen and Dymon Adams. 'Hey man. Tell them to don't taunt and do those kind of things.'" "So I asked him after the game, 'Wayne what did you say? I didn't say nothing. I was just frustrated. It was just one of those kind of days.'" However, the Clemson coaching staff wanted the running backs to run with more physicality in the first quarter of action against the Mountaineers. "Early on, he was running hard, but he let a couple of guys tackle him with one arm. So he got a little frustrated. We challenged him and he came back and ran the way like the way he is capable of running. So I think that was kind of statement just for him cause he was frustrated in himself because he wasn't as sharp early on in the game as he should have been." Gallman has 29 rushes for 171 yards and 3 TD's this season.
