ESPN's McShay gives draft grades for Beasley, Jarrett |
ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay wrote a column on the
best fits for front-seven prospects for the 2015 NFL Draft.
Clemson's
Vic BeasleyVic Beasley Grady Jarrett has a draft grade of #53 overall which would place him in the second round. "He can get blown off the ball when he doesn't keep his pads down, and he will never be a guy who takes up a lot of space," McShay writes. "But he is quick enough to shoot through gaps and has the agility to finish plays in the backfield." Vic Beasley receives a draft grade of #41 overall which would hypothetically land him in the second round. I'm not as high on Beasley as some others are, because I didn't see any power element to his game on tape," McShay writes. "I also have a hard time putting a top-15 type of grade on a defensive front-seven defender that turns down contact and likes to pile-inspect. Yes, his production at Clemson was off the charts. And yes, his workout numbers are rare. I also believe he is a hard worker with good football character. But I just don't see the value as a first-half-of-the-first-round draft pick. When it's all said and done, Beasley might be best suited to play off-the-line in a role somewhat similar to that of Von Miller (Broncos) or Anthony Barr (Vikings). The ESPN draft analyst has Beasley listed as the worst ranked edge player ranked with the following players ahead of him: Randy Gregory (#11 overall), Shane Ray (#16 overall), Bud Dupree (#32 overall), Eli Harold (#33 overall) and Hau'Oli Kikaha (#36 overall). However, most of the actual NFL teams in the Top 10 have worked out Beasley so in my opinion, he will more than likely be selected by the middle of the first round. Will McShay's NFL draft grade on Beasley come to fruition on draft day? Or will NFL teams in the Top 10 fight for the chance to get the pass-rushing phenom?
