The Cleveland Browns re-entered the NFL in 2009, and have a history of drafting quarterbacks. With two picks in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, one website thinks the Browns wind up with Clemson signal caller
Deshaun Watson.
CBS Sports released its 2017 Mock Draft earlier this week, and they think Watson fits into Cleveland's plans. However, they say that Watson won't be the first overall pick, reserving that right for Alabama defensive end Jonathan Allen. The Browns also have the 22nd pick in the draft (after a trade with Philadelphia), and CBS says this: Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson: With two first-round selections (and an NFL-high 13 projected picks overall), Cleveland can afford to be a little patient with its search for yet another quarterback. Watson has not shown the consistent accuracy from the pocket that normally warrants top-five consideration, but could be available here. Hue Jackson showed a willingness to work with dual-threat passer Robert Griffin III and likely will be impressed with Watson's intangibles Drafting a quarterback has a precedent with the Browns, especially when they have two picks. The Browns drafted Luke McCown in the fourth round in 2004 and Charlie Frye in the third round in 2005. In 2007, the Browns had two first round picks and drafted OT Joe Thomas with the 3rd pick and then Brady Quinn with the 22nd. They drafted Colt McCoy in the third round of the 2010 draft, and in 2012 the Browns had two first-round picks again. They selected RB Trent Richardson with the third overall pick and picked up Brandon Weeden in, yes, the 22nd spot. The Browns took former Texas A&M standout Johnny Manziel with, you guessed it, the 22nd overall pick in the 2014 draft. Ony time will tell if the Browns have the first overall pick in the 2017 draft, but right now the Browns are the league's only winless team at 0-7.
