Clemson ranked second in initial Coaches Poll |
Alabama and Clemson played for the National Championship last January in Phoenix and finished 1-2 in the final rankings. Those teams are 1-2 in the initial Amway Coaches Poll released Thursday.
Alabama was No. 1 in the preseason edition of the poll with 55 of 64 first-place votes and 1585 points in the rankings released Thursday, finishing ahead of Clemson and Oklahoma. Clemson received seven first place votes. Oklahoma did not receive a first-place vote, but No. 4 Florida State received one as did No. 10 Tennessee. Ohio State rounded out the preseason top five. Each voting coach submits his top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24 points and so on down to one point for 25th. 2016 USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll 1.
