Clemson is ranked #5 in
ESPN's Way-Too-Early Top 25 Rankings after signing day. The Tigers dropped four spots (#1 in last Way-Too-Early Top 25) after several of the defensive starters declared for the 2016 NFL draft.
"It's a good thing that Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson is coming back. The Tigers might have to score a lot of points this coming season after their defense was decimated by early losses to the NFL draft," ESPN said. "Seven underclassmen left early, including all four starters in the secondary. Ends Shaq Lawson and Kevin Dodd also left. Highly coveted five-star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence and No. 2 cornerback Trayvon Mullen might have to help right away." This is the post-signing day edition that had Washington State and Louisville fall out of the polls while Florida and Boise State joined the Top 25. The full Top 25 ranking were Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, Baylor, Clemson, LSU, Oklahoma, Stanford, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Houston, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Michigan State, TCU, USC, Iowa, North Carolina, Georgia, Oregon, UCLA, Oklahoma State, Washington, Florida and Boise State.
