Clemson was ranked #7 in the nation on Monday afternoon in the preseason 2017 rankings of the ESPN Football Power Index.

ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance for a season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is, and projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule.

The top ten schools in the FPI were Ohio State, Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida State, Auburn, LSU, Clemson, Penn State, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Clemson kicks off the 2017 regular season with a home contest against Kent State on September 2.
