Clemson ranked #2 in Preseason AP Top 25 |
Clemson was ranked #2 with 16 first-place votes in the
Associated Press preseason college football poll released on Sunday morning.
Clemson's highest preseason AP ranking in history previously was No. 4 in 1984 and 1988. It is the 25th time that the Tigers have been ranked in the preseason Top 25 by the Associated Press. This makes the fifth straight year that Clemson is ranked in the preseason Top 25 by the Associated Press. In the last five years, Clemson is the only school in the nation to finish at least the same in the postseason AP Poll compared to its preseason ranking the last four years. ESPN's Brett McMurphy publicly tweeted his Top 25 and had Clemson #4 with his vote. It is the 9th straight year Alabama has reached No. 1 in the AP Poll, extending its record streak according to ESPN Stats. The AP Poll has been ranking teams since 1936 (1,104 polls) and Clemson was recently ranked #22 in the AP All-Time poll.
