Clemson ranked #1 in latest Coaches Poll

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson (12-0, 8-0) remained No. 1 in the nation in the latest Amway Coaches Poll with 1558 points and 52 first-place votes on Sunday after a 37-32 road victory over South Carolina on Saturday afternoon.

Clemson lost 32 points and six first-place votes from last week's poll after completing a perfect regular season. This is just the second time the Clemson football program is 12-0 in a season (1981, 2015), and the Tigers have won 15 in a row which is the longest active streak in the nation.

Clemson and Iowa are the only two undefeated teams left in the nation.

The biggest riser in the Poll was USC that jumped eight spots to a #24 ranking while Michigan had the biggest drop moving down seven spots to 19th overall.

ACC coastal team North Carolina moved up three spots to #8 in the rankings. The ACC Championship game featuring Clemson-North Carolina will be held next Saturday, December 5, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. and will have an 8 p.m. kickoff and will be nationally televised by ABC.

Three schools dropped out of the Top 25 with #20 Washington State, #22 Mississippi State and #23 UCLA.
