Clemson ranked #1 in SI.com's Power Rankings |
The Clemson football team is ranked #1 on Tuesday in
SI.com's college football power rankings.
The Tigers were victorious 58-0 against Al Golden's final contest at Miami on Saturday. "One week before the College Football Playoff selection committee releases its first rankings, Clemson looks most worthy of a playoff spot," SI.com said. "And with only one regular season game left against a ranked opponent, the Tigers may have the best shot of earning a semifinal berth of any team in the country. Clemson has dodged debilitating injuries, scored a key victory over Notre Dame on Oct. 3 and has blown out the teams it should blow out." SI.com even had a tiny jab at Miami saying that Florida State coveted Al Golden around for as long as they could. "Jimbo Fisher forgot to tell Dabo Swinney he was supposed to let Miami hang around to try to entice the school to keep Al Golden," SI.com stated. "Instead Clemson added another dominant performance to its résumé. The Tigers have a quality win over Notre Dame and very few flaws for detractors to point to." The remainder of the Top 10 in the power rankings included LSU (#2), Baylor (#3), Alabama (#4), Ohio State (#5), TCU (#6), Michigan State (#7), Florida (#8), Iowa (#9) and Utah (#10). ACC schools Pittsburgh (#19), Duke (#21) and Florida State (#22) were also listed in the power rankings.
