Clemson finishes #2 in ESPN's final FPI |
Clemson was ranked #2 in the nation behind Alabama in the
final 2016 rankings of the ESPN Football Power Index.
ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance for a season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is, and projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. The top ten schools in the FPI were Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, Washington, LSU, Oklahoma, FSU, Louisville, and USC. Clemson's in-state rival South Carolina finished a dismal #72 on the list out of #128 total schools.
