Clemson family gets ultimate souvenir from Orange Bowl

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson Heisman finalist Deshaun Watson threw a football into the stands as time expired as Clemson defeated Oklahoma 37-17 in the 2015 Orange Bowl on Saturday night.

Many wondered on television who was the lucky fan that caught the football in the stands?

The answer is 9-year old Clemson fan Avery Younghans who was attending the bowl game with her family. Avery accidentally dropped the game ball in the excitement of it all and two friendly Miami-Dade officers recovered the fumble and handed it back to the family's 7-year old son Harris.

The family said on TigerNet that "Avery said it was the best Christmas present ever...the game ball, the win, Dabo, Miami. Great Memories! Our kids, like many others, have grown up going to every home game so this was very special for our family. CU in AZ and Go Tigers!" - Kim & Greg Younghans '93.
