Clemson basketball announces award winners at team banquet |
CLEMSON, S.C. - The men's basketball program announced its 2013-14 award winners at the annual year-end banquet Wednesday at the Clyde V. Madren Center Pavilion.
Junior forward
K.J. McDanielsK.J. McDaniels Paul Bowie Most Valuable Player K.J. McDaniels • First-team All-ACC selection, 12th in Clemson history • ACC Defensive Player of the Year, first in Clemson history • Led Clemson in points (614), rebounds (255), blocks (100), steals (41) and three-pointers (42) - the only player in the nation to lead his team in all five categories • Led the ACC with 2.8 blocked shots per game Tom Lynch Most Improved Player Landry Nnoko • Was third in the ACC with 2.0 blocked shots per game • Increased point total from 31 as a freshman to 226 as a sophomore • Increased rebound total from 44 as a freshman to 217 as a sophomore • Increased block total from nine as a freshman to 69 as a sophomore Tiger Pride Award Rod Hall • Junior co-captain led the Tigers with 143 assists, finishing ninth in the ACC in assists per game and assist-to-turnover ratio • Second on the team in scoring at 9.7 points per game, a career-high Tiger Strength Award Sidy Djitte • Put on 10 pounds of lean mass in just two months after arriving at Clemson • Increased all major lifts by at least 20 pounds over the course of the season Academic Excellence Award Carson Fields • Second straight year with the team's top cumulative grade-point average • Industrial engineering major has over a 3.8 GPA Andy Balliet "Spirit of Clemson" Award Kay Meyer • Worked as a basketball office assistant for the past four years and helped plan and execute functions and events, such as the annual alumni reunions and team banquets • Older brother, Trey, was a men's basketball manager and is now an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio) Pic Courtesy: Clemson basketball instagram
