CLEMSON, SC – Jonah Baize has been named the graduate manager for the Clemson men’s basketball program. Baize, who played for the Tigers from 2007-11, replaces Tee Butters, who left to pursue a business opportunity in his hometown of Raleigh, NC.

Baize (pronounced BAYZ) played from 2007-10 at Clemson under Oliver Purnell, before playing the 2010-11 season under Brownell. He was a member of four teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament, a first in school history.

Originally a walk-on, Baize earned a scholarship as a senior. Baize appeared in 24 career games, including a win over Winthrop his junior season in which he scored a career-high six points on consecutive three-point baskets. A two-time recipient of the team’s Academic Excellence Award, Baize earned his undergraduate degree in sociology in 2011.

Following a brief stint playing professionally in Bahrain, Baize was a coach at the American International Basketball Institute in Charlotte, NC. He coached alongside his mentor, John Jordan, formerly the head coach at Veritas Christian Academy in Asheville, NC when Baize attended the school.

Baize, originally from Evansville, IN, played his final high school season at Veritas. He led Veritas to a national runner-up finish in 2007 among National Association of Christian Athletes (NACA) high schools. He averaged 11.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in 2006-07 as a Veritas senior and was named to the All-Western North Carolina Team.
